Could I really have only been eleven years old when this song came out? I was obsessed with Donovan’s Sunshine Superman album from the first time I heard it (one of the great benefits of having older siblings) and really throughout my teen years. For whatever reason this song— Legend of a Girl Child Linda- came into my head a couple of days ago and it hasn’t left. I listened to the entire album- loud- on my sweet Sonos Era 100 speaker, so rich and clear and full that it sounds like the musicians are right in the same room as me!

A couple of years later the song Atlantis came out. I had a transistor radio that I would put under my pillow when I was going to sleep. Music was my medicine. AM radio was all we knew and there was good music on the radio- we’re talking 1968. Living on the north shore of Massachusetts not far from Boston, the station was WMEX. Faithfully every night they played that song and I would go to sleep dreaming of “fair Atlantis”.
