Summer Sunday Kirtan!

Please join me for an evening of chanting the many names of the divine. Kirtan takes the form of simple call-and-response chants, or mantras, which embed themselves deeply into the heart and the psyche, infusing the spirit with a multitude of feelings and emotions- longing, joy, sadness, ecstasy and all the many varying shades in between. The practice is simple and beautiful, the experience can be profound.

What is kirtan? Jai Uttal says it beautifully, "Kirtan is the calling, the crying, the reaching across infinite space — digging into the heart’s deepest well to touch and be touched by the Divine Presence.

Kirtan is singing over and over the many names of God and the Goddess, the multi-colored rainbow manifestations of the One. It is said that there is no difference between the name and that which is being named, and as the words roll off our lips in song, the Infinite is invoked, invited, made manifest in our hearts."

The kirtan will be followed by a potluck for those who wish to stay longer. Please bring finger food or a dish to share.

Suggested donation- $10- $20.
Please RSVP by emailing me at soundbodycenter@gmail.com or call/text 727.479.9916 so I have an idea of how many will be attending.
You can either pay at the door or, if you wish to prepay, use Paypal with my email address: soundbodycenter@gmail.com or Venmo @Rosemary-Warburton

Kirtan Kindergarten- Second Saturday of every month!

Kirtan means "songs of devotion" in Sanskrit. The chants are a simple calling out or singing of the names of God and is steeped in the tradition of bhakti yoga- the yoga of devotion, the path of the heart. Usually the chants are sung in a call-and-response manner, with or without musical accompaniment. "Kirtan is for all people. There are no masters of kirtan, no experts, no teachers, no advanced students, no beginners. The practice itself is the teacher, guiding us to ourselves." ~Jai Uttal~

Who would like to practice the basics of kirtan together in a cozy nurturing environment?  Bring a guitar, a drum or a harmonium if you have one- or just bring yourself and your sweet voice! No experience necessary. All are welcome.

If you're interested in joining us please RSVP. 727.479.9916 or soundbodycenter@gmail.com.
$10 Suggested Donation. Wood fire and hot tea compliments of the house!
